Forming a Nunavut company involves three main steps:
Step 1 Name Approval
All business entities require approval of proposed name prior to company registration in Nunavut. Nunavut Registrar of Corporations is responsible for the approval of company names.
We will do this step as a part of our Nunavut company incorporation service.
The general rules for choosing a Nunavut company name are:
* must not be identical or too similar to another business' name
* must not infringe registered trademarks or patents
* must not be offensive or vulgar in any way
Company names that contain words like Bank, Finance Company, Insurance, School, University, Travel Agent, Media, etc. must first be approved by the provincial Company Registration regulatory authority before they can be used.
If the name of the company is to be its incorporation number, for example 123456 N.U. Ltd; a Nunavut name search report, is not required and the number will be assigned at the time of incorporation.
Step 2 Filing Articles of Incorporation
Once you've reserved a company name, you can proceed to register your company and file articles of incorporation. Articles of incorporation are legal documents that establish your business, and must be approved by the Nunavut Registrar of Corporations before you do business under that business name.
